Aquaphor Ointment Body Spray Review NEED PHOTOS
My reviews are all out of order but I didn't want to wait any longer to get this one up. I'm going to be brutally honest from the start... I would absolutely not advise anyone to purchase Aquaphor Ointment Body Spray. I've never had such a horrible reaction to any kind of lotion, or any other body product. Or any product at all, honestly.
When I snagged my box I was super excited about the Aquaphor. I've never used a spray lotion but it seemed like something that could be convenient, since I don't like the feeling of lotion on my hands when I can avoid it. I have very dry skin and eczema, both of which regular Aquaphor is highly recommended for. I use the regular version on my hands at night from time to time and have never had any issues with it even though its not the very best in the world.
I used the Aquaphor Spray just like any other lotion, although technically its an ointment which Aquaphor claims is better. I shaved my legs the previous day and sprayed a light layer of Aquaphor onto my legs, arms, and chest right after my shower. I almost considered rubbing it in, but the bottle says you don't have to. And really, if you're using a spray and rub it in that defeats the entire point of buying the spray instead of regular lotion. Honestly, it didn't really seem to do much. It had trouble sinking in and still felt kind of tacky hours later when I was going to bed.
The next morning the lotion had all soaked in. It left my arms and legs a little soft, I guess, but not in a way that really made a difference. It also caused eczema to show up on my chest overnight, which was a bit alarming. I just figured it wasn't a good fit for my chest and continued to use it on my arms, legs, and feet after showers for two or three days. It soaked in a little better, despite using the same amount, but it was still overall very meh as a product.
For the first day or two I considered maybe buying it in the future, since it was convenient and I didn't have to rub lotion in, but it still seemed like such a waste. Half the product had to be going all over our bathroom with every spray. After my boyfriend took a turn testing how it sprays (on me), he felt it was super worthless and I had to agree. My regular lotions were still easier to use and actually left my skin feeling hydrated and soft. Sure I had to rub it in, but washing my hands is pretty easy.

Plus the spray function doesn't work particularly well. No matter how much I shook it, how far away it was sprayed from, or who sprayed it this always happened. It was even worse when my boyfriend tries and be both found it pretty annoying. Although it was easy enough to rub into skin or remove from the nozzle, a brand new spray shouldn't be doing this. It should be formulated better.
By the time my Aquaphor spray was basically gone it was time to shave my legs again. Since it had been a few days they were pretty prickly. Just like normal I wet my legs and added my usual amount of Eos shaving cream. But shaving just hurt. No matter how lightly I grazed the razor over my leg hair, barely touching my skins, it just hurt. I even got strange circular cuts in a few places, which I've never even seen before. For some reason I just got through all the shaving, probably because I was so confused and just wanted it over with.
My legs burned in the shower and hurt all night. When I told my boyfriend about it he looked at my legs and thought maybe the lotion had clogged my pores. They were very bumpy, like goosebumps, but not all over the entire legs. It was like a patchy map of bumps only over my calves, where I sprayed the lotion. I thought I just had goosebumps but after finding red dots and bumps on my arms I knew he had to be right or at least on the right track.

I've been using my facial cleanser on my arms and legs because I honestly have no idea what to do about this. Its been around two weeks since the Shaving Incident and there are still red bumps/dots on my arms. I can't tell if there are any on my legs, since I need to shave again, but I'm afraid to find out. I still haven't put any other lotion on my arms, legs, or feet and still have remnants of the eczema flare-up on my chest. I don't even know how to end this review because it was such a horrible experience.
If you're still curious after my cautionary tales you can see Aquaphor's claims and find out where to buy it on their website.
