Lumene Lahde Intense Hydration 24 Hour Moisturizer Review

I scored this fullsize freebie a couple months ago and finally finished it. Read on if you're curious to see how Lumene Lahde Intense Hydration 24 Hour Moisturizer worked for me!

First impressions? I loved the packaging. Its not the most amazing in the world but I was surprised by the overall quality for a freebie! Both the box and jar are aesthetically pleasing and seemed pretty dang nice. I'm used to drugstore skincare with pretty meh packaging. It functions but there's nothing pretty about it, you know? I was surprised to realize that this is a drugstore moisturizer too! I really like Lumene's branding and that made it a little more fun to use.

It has a very obvious fragrance that sticks around for quite a while. I enjoyed it a lot but it could be irritating to some people. The texture is like a more watery lotion, if that makes any sense. I found it to be very smooth and easily glide over skin when I used enough for that (with less, it patted in well). However no matter how much I used, it always left my skin looking shiny and oily so I didn't want to use it in the morning. I prefer to use most of my lotion and moisturizer products at night so that worked out perfectly fine for me. I never tried to apply makeup over it.

My one complaint is that it comes in a jar and doesn't have any sort of spatula, spoon, or scoop to remove product with. Its very unsanitary to dip your fingers into a jar over and over because it gets bacteria into the product. Luckily I already owned a little skincare spatula that I could use with it but it could be annoying for people who don't.

I stored mine in the box the entire time so I could keep it with my little spatula not risk losing track of things. At first I was very conservative with it but within a week I fell into a nice routine. For reference I have dry, flaky skin on my face with a lot of redness and prior to this I used a Burt's Bees Intense Hydration Night Cream about once a week.

My nightly Lumene routine was to cleanse my face, rinse it off in a cool shower, lightly dab only the dripping water off my face with a soft washcloth, and apply a generous amount of moisturizer to my face and neck within 2 minutes of getting out of the shower. I'd gently rub it over my entire face/neck and leave it alone for a couple hours. By the time I went to bed it was almost entirely soaked in with just a tiny amount of extra softness on top of my skin. I never had problems with it being sticky, thick, or not sinking in fully. By the time I woke up it was always completely soaked in and my skin felt soft and hydrated.

Always use a spatula with jars!

This moisturizer did a lot for my dry, flaky skin. Now that I've finished the jar I feel I can safely say it did a great job helping to moisturize it. However the product did absolutely nothing for my redness, which is my main concern. The level and behavior of redness in my skin was exactly the same before, during, and after trying this moisturizer. Now that my hydration levels are a lot better I'm going to be focusing on clearing up the redness, which is the only reason I have no plans to rebuy this product right now.

Once I can get my redness under control, I would absolutely rebuy this product. It worked out very well for me; I never got any breakouts or irritation and found the fragrance to be really soothing. One jar lasted for quite a while, even though I used so much every night, so I think the $20 price tag is very fair.
